NEW XBOX 360: CONFIRMED!!

According to TG Daily, Microsoft CEO, Steve Ballmer has confirmed during a speech at The Executive Club of Chicago that a new Xbox 360 will be hitting store shelves in 2010. This new Xbox 360 is said to be equipped with many bells and whistles in order to keep the competition on their toes. Among the new features was a built in camera with the ability to detect body movements and voice recognition.
Could this new Xbox 360 come equipped with built-in Natal technology? Probably. However, regardless of our speculations it appears Microsoft is determined to maintain their sales dominance over the competition by completely re-inventing the Xbox 360.
Sounds real promising but the red ring of death problem makes me skeptical.

No need to worry about red rings these days, the new chip set is pretty much out in the wild now. Also, this ‘new Xbox360′ is just a chipset upgrade which may include the project Natal camera built in, i feel that would be a mistake. So really it’s just the Xbox360 upgraded.

It will be interesting to see whether Microsoft sales the Natal technology separately as an add-on the same way Sony sales their Playstation-Eye or add Natal built into the 360 hardware. I personally don’t see the latter happening this generation.
