SHADOW COMPLEX Setting XBLA Sales Record

As if our E3 ‘09 impression of CHAIR Entertainments new action-shooter, SHADOW COMPLEX was not convincing enough. From the time we picked up the Xbox 360 controller and took SHADOW COMPLEX for a spin it was evident that CHAIR/Epic Games was definitely on to something special.
So today it is no surprise that this 3D/2D side-scroll adventure which has been induced with steroids has just set a sales record on Xbox LIVE Arcade.
Kotaku writes;
Chair Entertainment’s Shadow Complex is officially the most downloaded single-player title in Xbox Live Arcade history, with 200,000 copies purchased since the game went live on August 19th.
We loved Shadow Complex, and so did you folks apparently, with stellar review scores and one-week sales so spectacular that Microsoft had to issue a celebratory press release. Multiplayer titles dominate Xbox Live Arcade, and single-player games generally don’t perform nearly as well, but Chair seems to have knocked this one out of the park.
“Congratulations to Chair Entertainment and Epic Games for creating an outstanding game,” said Scott Austin, director of digitally distributed games at Microsoft. “As the capstone title of the second annual Summer of Arcade program, “Shadow Complex” has raised the bar for downloadable games. We’re proud to offer such high-quality content on Xbox LIVE Arcade.”
Simply put, SHADOW COMPLEX is a must-buy title.

BATMAN: Arkham Asylum: “Most Critically Acclaimed Superhero Game Ever”

R2Deuce was on the money at this years E3 when he bragged about BATMAN: Arkham Asylum being a true contender for Game Of The Year honors. Now it seems the developers at RockSteady have officially cemented themselves as developing RockStars after this mornings announcement by Guinness.
Guinness as in (The Guinness Book of World Records) this morning announced that BATMAN: Arkham Asylum has become the “Most Critically Acclaimed Superhero Game Ever”. This came about mainly due to the games excellent Metacritic average score of 91.67.
“We are so pleased to be awarding Batman: Arkham Asylum a Guinness World Record,” said Gaz Deaves, Manager at Guinness. “It is a fantastic new game and due to the reaction of gaming experts we believe it has a well deserved place in the Guinness World Records book,”
ThEvolution Network can’t emphasize enough how much we agree with the games excellent ratings. From the presentation and high quality voice acting to the immersive gameplay, developer RockSteady has truly placed gamers into the role as the Dark Knight. This game is a true representation of what it means to experience a comic book coming to life.
It’s Official: Xbox 360 Elite Now $299

Gamespot writes;
With the Pro’s demise, the Xbox 360 will have two SKUs: the $299.99 Elite and the $199.99 Arcade, which has 512MB of built-in memory for game saves and Xbox dashboard software installs. The price of the latter console will remain the same.
The Elite’s reduction comes exactly one week after Sony announced the $299.99 PlayStation 3 Slim at GamesCom in Germany. However, despite the fact the Blu-ray and Wi-Fi-equipped PS3 now matches the Elite in terms of memory and price, Greenberg still feels the latter is a better value. He pointed to 360 software exclusives, like Halo 3: ODST and Forza MotorSport 3. and Xbox Live’s online features, like Netflix and the forthcoming Last.fm, Facebook, and Twitter integration, still set for “this holiday season.” He also said price was a major factor for the 360 selling well.
BATMAN: Arkham Asylum Mid-Night Launch At GAMESTOP

As the world awaited the arrival of what has been labeled the greatest comic book superhero videogame ever, Gamestop hosted the BATMAN: Arkham Asylum mid-night launch party in Glendale, Arizona. ThEvolution Network was on hand as fans of BATMAN and his many arch-enemies came out in droves to finally get a taste of the Dark Knights latest adventure.
From Batman and The Joker to Catwoman, Zsasz, Harley Quinn and even ‘The Bus Driver’ from The Dark Knight Movie, fans were definitely in character and in high spirits for the mid-night launch party of BATMAN: Arkham Asylum. Gamestop put together a great event as the Salvation Army was also on hand to spread the love. The event featured face-painting for kids and adults, a costume contest, raffle prizes and also The Riddler brain-teasers which were a big hit.
With so many poorly developed comic-book based superhero titles, last years announcement of BATMAN: Arkham Asylum left Batman enthusiasts some-what excited yet concerned about the final build of the game. However, as more light was shed on this new title in the form of the latest E3 expo where we were finally got our hands on this ambitious title, and the latest reviews which consistently praise the efforts of developer RockSteady, all doubt have been quickly erased. From our experience with BATMAN: Arkham Asylum there is no question that RockSteady has developed a true contender for 2009 Game of The Year honors.
Currently BATMAN: Arkham Asylum is maintaining an excellent review rating average of 91/100 from Metacritic across both the PS3 and Xbox 360 platforms. Be sure to check out our BATMAN: Arkham Asylum Mid-Night Launch video.
