With competitively priced consoles across the board currently, it is extremely important for manufacturers to offer as much of the latest console features and updates. First it was announced that Facebook and Twitter has landing on the Xbox 360, 2 days later Sony offer Facebook via their firmware update for PS3 users. Today BBC’s incredibly popular iPlayer is available for both the PS3 and the Wii and it seem Microsoft wants in on the action, the only problem is, Microsoft continues to want to charge for features that are free elsewhere.

According to the Telegraph, a source has explained why the iPlayer may not be gracing the Xbox 360 in the near future.

“Microsoft only wants to offer its users access to platforms it can charge for as this is the model it is pursuing,”

“It wants to ensure that only those paying for Xbox Live Gold accounts can access its additional content services and even then there is usually a charge on top to get access to those.”

“This does not fit with the BBC’s model and Microsoft will not budge at the moment,”

This does not sound like it will work in Microsoft’s favor this time.

Thevolution Network wants to wish all of our readers and the entire gaming industry a Happy Thanksgiving. As we all celebrate another wonderful year of gaming, let’s be sure to be thankful for all of our many blessings.

According to Joystiq, Ubisoft is quite proud of their recent sales figures of Assassin’s Creed 2 which Ubisoft has estimated to be over 1.6 million copies sold in only it’s first week on the market. I believe it was Episode #21 of our weekly podcast where we gave Ubisoft some flack for not releasing a demo before launch. I guess Ubisoft knew something we didn’t. I am personally glad that Ubisoft is definitely seeing the fruits of their labor payoff despite the stiff competition from the likes Infinity Ward/Modern Warfare 2 which saw records breaking sales numbers.

Also Valve/Left 4 Dead 2 and Sony/God Of War Collection were both released on the same day as Assassin’s Creed 2 so these numbers are eye-popping. More importantly we just recently completed the story in Assassin’s Creed 2 and after 21 hours and 35 minutes we walked away saying, WOW! We can’t wait for Assassin’s Creed 3.

According to a recent twitter post, fans of the new and improved classic fighter TEKKEN 6 should expect a patch update on Thanksgiving day. Unfortunately for a lot of gamers who were trying to get the most out of the online experience, the stability was lackluster at best.

Regardless of the online issues I have to express that the game as a whole is probably one of the best fighting titles this generation. For all you TEKKEN fans and also newcomers to the title, TEKKEN 6 is an amazing fighter that should not be missed.

Black Friday is coming and yes it is going to be crazy. With some amazing video games deals being offered from GameStop during the Black Friday extravaganza, we suggest not eating too much on Thnaksgiving day that way you’re able to be one of the insane consumers at the store by 5am.

According to Kotaku, GameStop will in fact be offering up some pretty cool video game bundles that you cannot miss out on. We say this all the time, if you can afford to own both the PS3 and the Xbox 360 it really is a no-brainer. Both systems will be offered in an amazing bundle for $299. Get the PS3 bundle and receive the God Of War Collection and Little Big Planet and or get the Xbox 360 bundle and receive Lego Batman, PURE and your choice of Call Of Duty 4: Modern Warfare or Spiderman: Web of Shadows.

Be sure to call your local GameStop to make sure the bundle you want will be offered. But remember, Black Friday is first come first serve so layoff too much eggnog before you got to sleep. In fact don’t go to sleep, stay up all night and get there at around 3am. No excuses, power to the gamers.

We were under the impression that this issue was addressed however, according to a study done by CNET the situation is still pretty ugly in Britain.

Kotaku writes:

1,128 gamers were polled (note: it was a self-selected survey, not a blind study), with 562 owning an Xbox 360, 473 having a PS3 and 591 a Wii. Obviously, some respondents owned more than one console.

The results found that a crushing 60% of 360s had died, while only 16% of PS3s and 6% of Wiis had suffered the same fate. Even worse was the rate of repeat failure: of those who have reported a busted console, 32% say it’s happened more than once, with 19% saying it’s broken three times or more.

With the possibility that many repaired Xbox 360 consoles are being re-sold to consumers, it’s probably safe to assume that this large number of re-sold consoles may carry a significant amount of weight into the worldwide sales figures.

Unbelievable! Trumping Grand Theft Auto 4 by $50 million in five day earnings, Modern Warfare 2 is in a league all it’s own. Activision has recently announced that Modern Warfare 2 has earned $550 million in only it’s first five days on the market. Furthermore, Joystiq points out that $310 million of the earnings was accumulated in the titles first 24 hours on the market, absolutely ridiculous, we know.

Developing a game that brings in over $110 million a day for five days straight is a pretty sweet gig for the developing gurus at Infinity Ward.

No formal article of any kind just an update for all you XboxLIVE users who are currently at work eager to get home and test out the new Facebook and Twitter update. Yes it is LIVE! We have been messing around with for a while now. I must say it’s very cool.

The new update is pretty bare-bones right now but we of course understand that Microsoft wants to be the first to the party as Sony has just announced Facebook for the PS3 in the upcoming 3.10 firmware update. Regardless, it is currently only on the Xbox 360 and very user friendly. Here’s a suggestion, act really sick and get off for the day and jump on XboxLIVE. It’s just one day. With both Left 4 Dead 2 and Assassin’s Creed 2 releasing Nov 17th many local Gamestops will be hosting mid-night launch parties for both titles. Left 4 Dead 2 which is an Xbox 360 exclusive throws gamers right back into the chaotic online only team based zombie fest where survival is the name of the game.
